The so-called ‚Bündnis für Familie Heidelberg‘ ("alliance for families in Heidelberg") is under the patronage of the mayor Dr. Eckart Würzner and gets involved with a better compatibility of family and career. Founded in March 2007, some of the major achievements were vacation camps / activities for children, a broad information platform in the Internet, part-time apprenticeship positions, childcare in urgency cases et cetera. The alliance has several working groups consisting of more than 220 participants from 130 companies, local institutions, administration, politics and individuals, who stand up for a family-friendly Heidelberg.
